Xbox Live Shuts Down

Xbox Live

Who and What’s Affected?

Xbox users in Western Europe and the United States were the most affected by the major outage. However, other parts of the world also received the hit. The Xbox outage issue saw a huge portion of users spew profanity at the company’s Twitter Support team, as many received an 0x87dd0006 error message.
“We are aware that some members may be having problems signing in to Xbox Live,” posted Xbox Support on Twitter. “We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and we will be sure to provide you with frequent updates.”
The worst hit was on social and gaming services; Game DVR, cloud storage, In-game matchmaking, leaderboards, finding friends, pictures and avatar editing. Gaming enthusiasts also couldn’t buy downloadable items nor download items which they have already purchased.
At first, only Xbox 360 and Xbox One were affected and later followed Xbox on Windows 10 and mobile devices.

Microsoft Investigates

Fortunately, “the service interruption has been resolved [this morning]” said a Microsoft spokesperson on IGN. However, the tech giant did not reveal what caused the disruption. More so, some Xbox 360 and Xbox One users might still experience functionality problems on Xbox Live.  But, the company said it was investigating the issue.
